Brookhaven's Seminar Snapshots “Grieving: An Individual Journey" Presenter: Denise Hunter, LPC Date: 08-06-08 Synopsis: Grief over the loss of a loved one and anticipatory grief related to terminal illness are commonly encountered themes confronting therapists. However, complexity is added to the grieving process by mental health issues, social and cultural norms, and family dynamics. During her presentation, Denise Hunter discussed common emotional, physical, spiritual, and psychological reactions during the grief process and self-care techniques that facilitate healthy grieving and management of stress. Speaker Profile Denise Hunter, LPC, is licensed by the Oklahoma State Department of Health and specializes in both crisis intervention and grief therapy. She has been with Sojourn Care Hospice providing grief therapy and general counseling for families as well as giving presentations on grief since 2004.
