Synopsis:

People come to mental heatlh professionals with many sorts of adversity and suffering. Oftentimes, just as they may not be able to meet their needs and wants, they cannot directly see or articulate what they want. Furthermore, they cannot differentiate between true needs and desirous wants.

This seminar explored what mental health professionals are "up against" when it comes to assumptions and childhood conditioning among clients/patients and clients/patients' families.

Speaker Profile

Stuart Jacobson, Ph.D., LCSW, LMFT

Stuart Jacobson , Ph.D., LCSW, LMFT has been a clinical social worker since gratuating from the University of Texas in 1968, and has been in his Tulsa private practice (Pathways) of individual, couples and family therapy and counseling since 1973. Originaly trained in ego psychology, family systems, and brief extended psycho-therapy, his practice has branched into existential psychotherapy and understand-ing of many of the world's spiritual traditions. In 1995, Stuart earned his doctrate in Comparative Philosophy and Religion which has broadened his understanding of the human experience and human possibility. Over the years, Stuart has taught classes at the University of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Northeastern State, and Oral Roberts. Many pastors and various Christian demonominations and many mental health professionals have worked with him as clients.
