Brookhaven Hospital has been asked by Channel 2, KJRH news, to participate in a story about the opioid epidemic. Brookhaven team members will be in the KJRH studio and available by phone during the 5 pm and 6 pm newscasts on Tuesday, May 17th, to answer questions from viewers about addiction to prescription drugs.

Addiction to prescription drugs is a national problem as well as a local one here in Oklahoma. In 2012, Oklahoma was fifth highest in the nation for death by overdose. 460 deaths in 2012 involved opioids. Oklahoma is one of the top states in the nation for the sale of prescription painkillers.

Tune in to KJRH Channel 2 on Tuesday, May 17th, and call us with your questions. We are excited about this opportunity to educate the public about the disease of addiction and to give back to our community!
