Clearing Up The Myths About Anxiety


In a society where the most common tip given to anxiety sufferers is “get over it” or “chill out”, practical methods for handling the fear and anxiety felt by those with anxiety disorders can be extremely valuable. Unfortunately, there are just as many myths surrounding anxiety treatment and management as there is useful information, and trying to address anxiety with myths and misinformation can be more harmful than doing nothing at all.

In an effort to break down the myths and set the story straight, Margarita Tartakovsky, M.S., associate editor of World of Psychology recently shared five false ideas commonly believed about anxiety on the blog for PsychCentral.
