Group Therapy

Brookhaven is now providing group therapy as an additional outpatient service to supplement specific needs of our outpatient clients. The following three group topics are now being offered at different times throughout the year:

1. Anxiety Management (meets once a week for 10 weeks)- Clients will discuss and process symptoms and triggers of anxiety, the major types of anxiety disorders, and coping skills to help them manage their own personal symptoms on a daily basis and to lower their overall levels of anxiety in general.

2. Depression Management (meets once a week for 10 weeks)- Clients will discuss and process symptoms and triggers of depression, three major types of depression, and specific ways to modify their thinking and behavior to manage depression symptoms and lower levels of depression on a daily basis.

3. Coping Skills (meets once a week for 8 weeks) Clients will discuss ways to cope with the challenges of interpersonal relationships. This will include ways to alter unhealthy behavior patterns and will cover such issues as conflict resolution, anger management, communication skills, and boundaries.

Each group session is two hours long and is a complete therapeutic unit, providing information on the topic as well as an opportunity for sharing and processing in each session. Each client who participates will receive his/her own personal workbook to keep when the group series is ended.

The current outpatient group being offered is Anxiety Management and will be meeting each Tuesday from 12:00 - 2:00pm from January 5th through March 9th.
