Rolf B. Gainer, Ph.D., Diplomate ABDA, is the Chief Executive Officer at Brookhaven Hospital and the Vice President of Rehabilitation Institutes of America. He is the founder of the Neurologic Rehabilitation Institute of Ontario (Canada). Dr. Gainer has been involved in the design and operation of treatment programs since 1978. He has published numerous articles on mental health and rehabilitation topics and has presented at many national and international conferences. He remains active in outcome research.
Dr. Rolf B. Gainer was invited to serve on the panel of distinguished authors for The Essential Brain Injury Guide, Edition 5.0 released by the Brain Injury Association of America. Dr. Gainer’s chapter on the “Psychosocial Complications of Brain Injury” addresses the psychiatric and neurobehavioral problems which can occur for individuals with brain injuries. The Essential Brain Injury Guide, Edition 5.0, a comprehensive brain injury training manual, is used in the Academy of Certified Brain Injury Specialist training programs and in other settings.
Kenneth Pierce is the Chief Financial Officer at Brookhaven Hospital. He has over 25 years of hospital accounting and management experience in major hospitals in Missouri, Tennessee and Florida. He is a graduate of the University of South Florida, Tampa.
Ron Broughton, M.Ed., LPC, CBIST, is the Chief Clinical Officer at Brookhaven Hospital. He received an M.Ed. from the University of Central Oklahoma. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor and is also licensed to supervise LPC candidates. He has written several academic papers on schizophrenia and psychosis, and has conducted numerous mental health presentations and workshops. Debbie Jones, RN, CBIS, is the Director of Nursing at Brookhaven Hospital. Debbie brings over ten years of nursing experience to Brookhaven. She obtained her degree in nursing from Sanford Brown Business College, St. Peters, MO. Debbie is a Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS).
Janice Ponds, LADC, CBIS, is the Director of Utilization Review at Brookhaven Hospital. She holds a B.S. in Education from N.C. A&T State University; a M.A. in Special Education/School Psychology from Ohio State University; and did post graduate studies in clinical psychology at the University of Virginia. Janice’s experience as a teacher; school psychologist; psychiatric counselor; clinical director; substance abuse treatment program coordinator, director, and supervisor; a certified brain injury specialist; clinical consultant; and a licensed therapist have given her insight into practical ways to understand and effectively help individuals from all walks of life.
Lisa Wedel, BS, is our Director of Reimbursement. Lisa brings over twenty two years of healthcare billing and management experience to Brookhaven. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Leadership from Southern Nazarene University. Lisa oversees our business office for inpatient and outpatient treatment services, and joined our team in 2016.
Jason Pirtle, MSM, is our Director of Business Development. He has over 20 years experience in the areas of HealthCare Administration and Finance. Jason completed both his Bachelor and Masters of Science in Management from Southern Nazarene University. Jason has been with Brookhaven Hospital since 2013.
Community Outreach and Education
Rev. Lydia Gonzalez D’Ross aka Lilly, is the new Renewal Outreach Chaplain for Brookhaven Hospital. She is an ordained and licensed minister and also serves as an International Federation Chaplain. Lydia is a graduate of Oral Roberts University with a Diploma in intensive Ministry and Training Development. She is a member of several advisory boards including the OMHSAS System of Care, Oklahoma Women of Status Commission and Chair, and other mental health task force committees. Lydia has been with Brookhaven since the Summer of 2014 and brings to Brookhaven Hospital, over 30 years of health and human services experience and a life time volunteer expertise from array of disciplines.
