Of all psychiatric disorders, bipolar has the highest suicide rate. There is still much we don’t know about the disorder, but because of the dangers it presents, much research is being done. Recently, Australian scientists made a breakthrough by discovering that young people with a genetic history of bipolar show different brain activity than that of someone with no history of bipolar.

Not only does this information give medical professionals an idea of how and where bipolar starts, but it also gives them a tool to indentify those at risk early before any clinical signs start.

Be sure to read Science Alert’s article on the research being done.
