In another treatment step beyond conventional and traditional boundaries, a research psychologist was recently given an award from the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation for his work using computer games to help treat forensic psychiatry patients.

As reported by News-Medical, Dr. Anthony O. Ahmed found that his patients with schizophrenia “have deficitsĀ in some neurocognitive areas that are far worse than the general psychiatric population.” He says they see a particular benefit from working with brain-training games. Also, younger patients see a greater impact, but the treatment has been proven effective for patients of all ages.
